In chapter 6 we saw the opening of the first 6 of 7 seals. Then in chapter 7 we saw the protection of God’s people from the judgments coming. Now, in chapter 8 we have the opening of the 7th seal.
When the 7th seal is opened there is silence in heaven for about half an hour. After this 7 trumpets will start to sound announcing judgment and destruction on earth. But first there is a note that the prayers of saints are rising up to God like incense.
Like the seals and the 4 horsemen, the 7 trumpets announce progressive judgments on the earth, but this sounds even more severe. The first 4 are found in verses 6-12, and verse 13 is an ominous prelude to the final 3 trumpets: And angel flying and saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”
The prayers of Christians are describe like _______________________. What is the significance of this comparison.
Browse over the judgments in verse 6-12. Does it sound like what is happening in the world today? Why should we be cautious about making that application?
