Great Chapters: Exodus 20

Exodus 20 records the giving of the 10 commandments. Who were the 10 commandments given to originally? (See verse 2).

Where else in the Bible are the 10 commandments recorded?

Give some thought to each commandment and define it in your mind as to what it truly means. Make a note of any questions you have or ask them below.

What essential laws do you find missing from this list? What does this tell you about these 10?

How might we put too much emphasis on the 10 commandments? How might we give them too little attention?

What was the purpose of the dramatic scene at Mount Sinai described in 18 and 19 (also described in 19:16-18). Find the answer in 20:20.
