Great Chapters In The Life of Jesus: The Woman Caught In Adultery

Today’s lesson is found in John 8:1-12

The woman was caught in the act of adultery. What did the Law of Moses say about it? (Leviticus 20:10)

Explain the dilemma between mercy and justice. What does mercy cause one to do? What does justice call for?

Explain the trap they are setting for Jesus. What is the problem with letting her go free? What is the problem with commanding she be stoned?

How does Jesus dispense with the case while still upholding the law? See Deuteronomy 19:15.

How will he address the God’s justice side of the matter? After all, she was guilty of adultery.

Does this story teach that adultery is not that big of an issue?

Does this story teach that we should not address sin in other people’s lives?

What is your main take away from this story?
