Saul Becomes Israel’s King

Reading: 1 Samuel 8-12

1 Samuel 8

Samuel’s evil sons. God grants Israel’s request for a King, Samuel warns but Israel insists.

1 Samuel 9

Saul meets Samuel while searching for lost donkeys. Samuel hosts dinner honoring Saul, begins to reveal his plans to make him king.

1 Samuel 10

Samuel anoints Saul and gives him 3 signs.  Spirit of the Lord comes upon Saul.  Saul returns home and hides the news from his uncle.  Saul proclaimed King, Rebels object.

1 Samuel 11

Saul leads a defeat of the Amonites, spares the rebels who had opposed Him.

I Samuel 12
