Great Chapters: Romans 12

Romans is a very “theological / doctrinal” book explaining how the gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe (Romans 1:16). The details of God’s way of salvation is developed in chapters 1-11.

Romans chapter 12 is the beginning of the “practical / everyday living” section of the book.

Similar to what we saw last week in Psalm 23, Romans 12 begins with a general statement about the life we are to live. How does verse 1 sum up the Christian’s commitment? What does this mean? Paul calls this commitment our “reasonable service”. Why is this a reasonable response to the gospel?

Browse through the rest of the chapter looking specific examples of how we be a “living sacrifice”. For example, what specific behaviors do you see in these verses:

What does this analysis of Romans 12 teach about the relationship of doctrine and practical living?
